How can water wells and billions of businesses work with communities to achieve long-lasting governance?

Project background

As urbanization accelerates, community governance faces new challenges—residents’ demands for quality of life have increased, but some old or newly built communities still have problems such as insufficient supporting facilities and lagging environmental governance. As a well-known liquor company rooted in Chengdu, Shuijingfang has always paid attention to community development and hopes to give back to the society through public welfare actions while enhancing the brand's responsible image. The survey covered 20 communities, 1,510 residents and 50 community workers, deeply exploring the real needs of residents and optimizing corporate public welfare strategies.

Core challenges

  1. Living experience varies widely.: Newly built communities (such as Longhu Guiyunli and Changhong Tianyue) have declined in satisfaction due to insufficient supporting facilities, while old communities (such as Qingchun Homes and Park Yuefu) face traditional problems such as garbage collection and noise.
  2. Inadequate population participationOnly 7.4 per cent of the population has participated in the “Friendly Neighborhood Programme” and young groups have been alienated from their communities because of time constraints and lack of interest.
  3. Corporate public good to be enhancedDespite the recognition of the public good in the wells, the awareness of some of the population about their environmental actions, such as sustainable development projects, has declined and needs to be more accurate.
